JOHN VERITY BAND

John Verity has had a varied and amazing career, with support dates with rock luminaries such as JIMI HENDRIX, JANIS JOPLIN, THE WHO, JOHN MAYALL’S BLUESBREAKERS and MOUNTAIN; recording alongside RINGO STARR, KEITH EMERSON, GREG LAKE, TIM ROSE, ZOMBIES, COLIN BLUNSTONE, PHOENIX, CHARLIE and ARGENT to name but a few.

The John Verity Band started 2016 on a high, appearing at ‘Giants of Rock’ in Minehead to a rapturous reception. This is set to continue in the same vein with dates already booked at high profile venues all around the UK for 2016 and 2017.

The latest album ‘My Religion’ was released in March as a CD. Due to popular demand, and for the first time since the 1980s, vinyl special edition double albums have now arrived and will be available for our appearance at The Bear.

John will be joined on this date by the excellent Bob Skeat on bass guitar (in between his tour dates with Wishbone Ash) and Liam Gray, our very talented and innovative drummer.

Come and see John and the guys live and join us for a night of blistering blues with a rocky edge!

SATURDAY 09 JULY

TBELLY

After last summer's sell-out show, we welcome back TBelly for a night of kickin' blues for a Saturday night.

As a member of Les McKeown’s legendary Bay City Rollers, lead singer Russell Keefe (as well as bandmates Kevin Magill and Ross Lardner) toured the world and recorded multiple studio and live records, furthering the iconic band’s worldwide success. But it was a batch of new songs that Keefe says fuelled this new direction into the blues;

“I started writing the songs in 2013 and this blues style just came out. It suited my voice and it suited the type of songs I was writing. But there are other elements in the songs and in the band too. TBelly certainly has its roots in the blues but it’s very much a contemporary sound that we bring.”

“TBelly make some fine music, but it is their vocal performance that grabs the ear and engages the spirit. Blues songs can compress deep and complex feelings into a few lines. When they are projected with this kind of power and conviction they can also open a door into a world of shared experiences”

Blending innovative, thoughtful songwriting with stunning blues guitar work, some music critics have drawn comparisons to Eric Clapton. In its 2010 year-end review, Chris was named the "future of the blues" by Canada's Blues Underground Network.
