"Awesome blues fun. Great musicianship and vocals from this band as they swung out some blues classics. Delivered with energy and passion, Ray Drury's fingers were a blur on the piano as Laurent Mouflier's lips flew over the harmonica. The audience were up and dancing for the whole set and the band seemed to be having as much fun on stage. Unpretentious, lively and we were grinning from start to finish - a great gig!"

BLUES MAMMOTH

Blues Mammoth 3.jpg

Blues Mammoth is the blues band brainchild of Jack Pout & Andy Twyman. While working the festival circuit as solo acts in 2016, a series of chance encounters led the pair to strike up a friendship. A meeting of minds triggered the formation of Blues Mammoth.

Both Jack and Andy have had successful solo music careers. Andy first took to the stage aged 12 performing in pubs and clubs, and at 18 began to develop his one man band act. Since then, he has been described as “The Master of The One Man Band” (Blues in Britain Magazine) and has performed at Glastonbury Festival and on BBC Three and Channel 4. His music has received airplay on BBC Radio Kent and has been the subject of articles in The Sun, The Mirror and The Daily Mail. Jack’s personal and nuanced style of folk-blues song writing earned him a nomination for a BBC Folk Award. Performing at festivals across the country, as a front man, compere and instrumentalist, he has toured through France, Spain, The Netherlands and Germany in multiple acts.

In the 1960s young minds met over a passion for the blues. In 2017 it’s happened again.

JV ACOUSTIC

jv acoustic 1.jpg

If you've never seen or heard John Verity before you have missed someone very special indeed. Over many years from the early ARGENT days, John has produced some great blues based albums, travelled thousands of miles up and down the land packing venues and has a vast base of fans who see him again and again. Recently he brought out a ‘Live in 2017’ DVD, which is one of those unmissable releases. Now comes what could be the best album of his career, as well as best blues album of 2017, ‘Blue to my soul’.

Great songs, great performances! John not only has a great voice for his material but his exceptional guitar playing almost segues voice and guitar into one. As the words of one of the songs from the album states  'This Old Dog-ain't done yet, he's still blue to the soul and he's coming back!'

For this acoustic performance John is joined by Roger Inniss, a virtuoso six string bass player. His musical CV includes:  Erja Lyytinen, Ruby Turner, Jools Holland, Elkie Brooks, Mick Taylor and Joanne Shaw Taylor - several Blues Caravan tours. Our young and innovative drummer Liam James Gray completes the trio.

ZOE SCHWARZ BLUE COMMOTION

Zoë Schwarz Blue Commotion have made a considerable impact these last five years, and is one of the band’s that have added a fresh approach and vibrancy to the UK Blues. They are finalists in two categories in the 2018 UK Blues Awards.

Their exciting live set is based around rootsy originals: Strong catchy riffs, interesting arrangements, and exciting grooves featuring Rob's electrifying, and unmistakable touch and flow on guitar.  The highly accomplished rhythm section of Pete Whittaker-Hammond organ and Paul Robinson-drums (Nina Simone, Van Morrison, The Proclaimers, Paul McCartney to name a few) bring massive musical authority and the ability to push the music in unpredictable and exciting directions.

Zoë Schwarz’ dynamic and commanding vocal delivery is both eclectic and suave at the same time; just like a chameleon, one part Janis Joplin, one Billie Holiday, and one Nina Simone/ .
