Stan Tracey CBE (Clark's father) would have been 90 this year.  To celebrate the work of his father, Clark has assembled the group Hexad with five outstanding young musicians, much along the lines as Stan would have done.  The music is drawn from compositions by the maestro dating back to 1980 from a selection of the many suites written for this group.
Clark has just won Best Drummer in the British Jazz Awards for the 2nd year in a row and will be featured strongly in this heavy duty line up.    clarktracey.com

THR3E

A style firmly rooted in 60s/70s British blues, but with influences ranging widely from the old blues originals to more recent US and British outputs, Thr3e do not try to fit in to any “genre”.  They just write great songs about what happens in their world and play them from the heart.  Twin guitarists bouncing licks off each other and with tight vocal harmonies to boot.

SUNDAY 26 MARCH

JAZZ JAM

What is the Jazz Jam?

The Jazz Jam is a session led by a great house band, where musicians and singers come to try out material, play old classics and sit in with other players.

Who is it for?

It is for everyone. Half of the crowd come to play, half come to just watch. It's the sort of gig where you don't know what's coming next.

What's the vibe?

It's a relaxed Sunday afternoon feel, very friendly and a chance to see some great music up close, often with musical combinations and improvisations that you will never see again.

If you are lucky...

....you might even see Perry's jazz dancers who stop in every now and then, clear some tables, and hit the floor.

FRIDAY 31 MARCH

FOCUS ON JAZZ PRESENT...

Many fans will know Gee as both percussionist and leading vocalist for Light of the World, for whom he co-wrote 3 albums which propelled Light of the World into the limelight as one of the biggest British JazzFunk bands of all time, and of course spawning offspring bands Beggar & Co and Incognito.

In true Focus on Jazz style, we are teaming Gee up with the Peter Honegan Band in a one-off collaboration which is exclusive to our promotions at the Bear Club.

Gee’s live show at the Bear Club will include specially adapted songs that celebrate different styles of music and showcasing his soulful and emotive voice. This will be sprinkled with a few classic covers for what promises to be an evening of soulful melodies with a distinctly British JazzFunk sound.

Of course, an evening such as this would not be complete without Starpoint FM DJ Paul Goldsmith who will once again play the best in Soul & Jazz, and our host, The Real Reminiscence – Lee Drummond.
