ANDREW ZOL.jpg

THE RUSSIAN REVOLUTION / Andrew Kolinsky

Pianist Andrew Zolinsky returns to Luton with a programme especially conceived to honour the centenary of the Russian Revolution in the autumn of 1917. Virtuoso piano writing from Scriabin and Rachmaninov in the early years of the 20th Century will open the programme. This romantic repertoire contrasts strongly with the two autobiographical works by Prokofiev, both from the turbulent year of 1917 and based on material from earlier sketches, harking back perhaps to less troubled times. This intriguing recital offers a remarkable insight into turmoil on the continent of Europe only one hundred years ago…

“Zolinsky's virtuosity was at times incredible.” The Sunday Times

JENNY WREN & HER BORROWED WINGS

Paul Jolly 2.jpg

Acoustic Rhythm and Blues stripped back and blushed with country. Powerful emotional vocals delivered with an open hearted honesty, supported by a heartbeat bass and dancing dirt road guitars. A UK trio with a gusto style, playing original music with an intuitive togetherness and impressive musicianship. Innovative combinations of musical influences drawn from of the very best parts of the Roots/Americana music traditions.

"To listen to the voice of Jenny Trilsbach is to fall in love. What a singer with power and rawness, but still very sensitive. The instrumental combination of Jenny Trilsbach on bass, Ben Gallon on the acoustic guitar and Ben Fisher on the resonator works par excellence"

What is the Jazz Jam?

The Jazz Jam is a session led by a great house band, where musicians and singers come to try out material, play old classics and sit in with other players.

Who is it for?

It is for everyone. Half of the crowd come to play, half come to just watch. It's the sort of gig where you don't know what's coming next.

What's the vibe?

It's a relaxed Sunday afternoon feel, very friendly and a chance to see some great music up close, often with musical combinations and improvisations that you will never see again.

If you are lucky...

....you might even see Perry's jazz dancers who stop in every now and then, clear some tables, and hit the floor.

Find the Jazz Jam on Facebook HERE
