** SPECIAL MID-WEEK EVENT **

WEDNESDAY 05 OCT

TINA MAY & ENRICO PIERANUNZI

One of Europe’s finest jazz singers, Tina May, and Italy’s internationally acclaimed pianist Enrico Pieranunzi bring their 2015 album, Home is Where the Heart Is, to the stage here at The Bear Club where the album artwork was created and yards away from where this wonderful album was recorded for Luton's legendary jazz label 33 Records.

Recognised for her abilities as a musician as much as she is for being a classy interpreter of lyrics and melody, Tina May is the consummate jazz performer and her partnership with Enrico Pieranunzi places her with a supremely sensitive accompanist and a brilliantly creative improviser.

Together, they present familiar songs from the jazz and chanson canons – May is a fluent French speaker – and original compositions in those same traditions, and with May’s natural and engaging onstage personality and witty between-song chat, they transport, delight and above all completely involve their audience.

Duo_MD_immagine_principale.jpg

When Marco played here last April, a totally acoustic gig, 'the bear' was on holiday, and all he has heard about since was how it was one of the greatest nights of intimate music the club has seen!

Tonight, he plays with London based saxophonist Dom Pusey. With a mutual respect for each other's playing, they started exploring music in a duo setting after meeting at The Bear's very own Sunday jam session. Expect a combination of well loved standards and some original music from the pen of Marconi.
