Steve Banks is a leading jazz guitarist, composer, bandleader, and session musician whom you might have caught playing lead guitar for Sara Colman’s band last year.
Steve released his critically acclaimed debut album as a bandleader, Emboldened, on Stoney Lane Records in May 2023, followed by a UK tour.
Emboldened presents a compelling, distinctive, and personal sound, immediately recognisable as the guitarist and composer’s own work. It features powerful modern jazz, deep contemporary grooves, lush harmonies, and memorable melodies, complemented by expressive, rich, and dynamic improvisation from a quintet comprising celebrated UK musicians and bandleaders. This performance will include music from Emboldened alongside brand new compositions.
