Harry Brunt has rapidly established himself as an important new voice on the UK jazz scene. An experienced performer with an impressive list of appearances, in addition to his work with his own quartet, Harry is a co-leader of the award winning group, Howl Quartet.
Described as combining a ‘fiery, passionate energy with a thoughtful, intelligent wistfulness and the results are utterly compelling’ (UK Vibe), Howl Quartet are the recipients of a Developmental Award through the Peter Whittingham Jazz Awards to support the release of their third album, Night Song’ in 2025. They have performed at acclaimed venues including The Royal Albert Hall (Elgar Room), PizzaExpress Dean Street & Cheltenham Jazz Festival. Moreover, as a sideman, Harry has performed with artists including: Jean Carne, Anita Wardell, Tom Seals, Tony Momrelle (Incognito), Casandra Jenkins, Tomorrow’s New Quartet & Nel Begley.
Tonight the quartet will be showcasing music from their debut EP Carolina Peaches. Recorded a week before the due date of his daughter, Isabella, Carolina Peaches reflects a time of immense change for Harry both personally and as a musician. Featuring the considerable talents of Billy Marrows (guitar), Flo Moore (bass) & Rod Oughton (drums), all of whom have played at The Bear Club with their own or other projects, this recording represents years of study and devotion to improvised music.
“Delicately thunderous fusion... prioritising sensitivity and lyricism, this is highly listenable original music. Quality stuff.”
“Delicate, carefully sculptured, original, improvised music.”
“Feeling like a blend of straight ahead and 90s grunge.”
