Mat Day is one of the UK’s most exciting emerging blues guitarists, carving out a sound that blends the power of blues, the sophistication of jazz and the energy of modern roots music. He sold out The Bear Club on his debut with his own band in April ‘26 and we’re thrilled to welcome him back.
A longtime guitarist for award-nominated songwriter and producer Greg Coulson, Mat has earned a reputation as a player who brings serious fire to the stage. His influences range from Robben Ford to Marcus King, Miles Davis and John Coltrane, creating a really distinctive sound.
From headline shows at Tuesday Night Music Club Coulsdon, Teignmouth Jazz & Blues and The Bear Club, Mat has been winning audiences over with his explosive guitar playing, soulful grooves and mesmerising live presence.
When established artists need a guitarist who can deliver, Mat is already in high demand. His credits include work with Alice Armstrong, Billy Lockett, The Blockheads and Will Wilde, alongside his ongoing work with Greg Coulson.
That momentum was recognised in 2026 when Mat was nominated in the Top 20 Emerging Artists at the UK Blues Awards.
With a guitar in his hands and a sound built on soul, groove and serious musicianship, Mat Day is an artist firmly on the rise.
