We’re thrilled to welcome the Misha Mullov-Abbado Group to The Bear Club for the first time. Misha is one of the top bass players around, and his group features some of London’s finest multi-award-winning musicians.
Performing Misha’s original compositions and arrangements, their music draws on a broad range of influences. The band has played prestigious jazz and classical festivals across the UK, France, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, and Mexico, with London highlights including the Southbank Centre, King’s Place, Vortex, and the Barbican.
Their fourth album, Effra, was released earlier this year to great acclaim. All of their albums have received widespread praise, with regular appearances on Radio 3 and Jazz FM.
Their sound blends classical, jazz, and pop influences with folk traditions from around the world, particularly South America. Misha’s music moves between chorale-based and contemporary styles, influenced by classical giants from Bach to Bartók, while also paying tribute to jazz and groove-based genres like swing, samba, funk, and fusion. As a bass-led band, Avishai Cohen, Ray Brown, and Charles Mingus are all important role models for this exciting sextet.
Having met while studying together over a decade ago, this ensemble of old friends has a long history of playing together in various groups. Many lead their own acclaimed projects, and all play in a variety of successful groups such as the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra, Seafarers, and Alfa Mist.
