Secret Night Gang is a writing duo founded by Kemani Anderson and Callum Connell, who joined forces with a set of amazing musicians to blend neo-soul with a jazz-inflected flair as an awesome, not-to-be-missed 7-piece live experience.
The band’s music is diverse and genre-defying, providing groove, energy, and melody in equal parts. SNG has garnered praise from tastemakers like Rolling Stone, Clash Magazine, Jazz FM, Jamie Cullum, and Bandcamp, among others.
Their self-titled debut album “Secret Night Gang”, released in 2021 on Brownswood Recordings, earned the band nominations for Breakthrough Act of the Year at the Jazz FM Awards and Track of the Year at the Worldwide FM Awards. On the back of that breakout success, SNG joined Khruangbin on their UK/EU Tour, further cementing their reputation as a formidable live act. In 2023, the group unveiled their second album, “Belongs on a Place Called Earth,” and performed sold out shows at prestigious venues - Ronnie Scott’s, the Jazz Cafe, and Jasmine Poland—as well as major festivals including North Sea Jazz, Montreux Jazz, and Primavera Sound. They also served as support for Cory Wong on his UK tour in 2023.
In 2025 SNG independently released their new singles “How to Love” followed by “Relax Your Mind”, with an EP slated for 2026. The tracks were mixed by multi–GRAMMY Award–winning engineer Russell Elevado (D’Angelo, Erykah Badu) and mastered by Alex DeTurk (D’Angelo, PJ Morton), underscoring SNG’s commitment to quality and innovation.
Renowned for their must-see live performances, SNG continue to captivate audiences, redefining the street soul genre one show at a time.
“...sits in the realm of high energy funk mixed in with soul-jazz moods that bring R&B, gospel and catchy hooks altogether for a magnificent mix.”
“...the young Mancunians have an enviably easy way with a melody, a relaxed charm to their grooves, a laid-back approach to music-making that can’t help but summon up the spirit of, say, Roy Ayers or Stevie Wonder in their prime... these tunes are pretty much sunshine on tap. ”
