They’re back—with new music! Wonder 45 returns with their own brand of authentic soul that straddles the line between traditional and contemporary.
Formed as an instrumental recording project by producer and writer Holley Gray, Wonder 45 began with guitarist Ross Ewart, drummer Chris Nickolls, and keys player Steve Pringle. The band truly came into their own when they linked up with singer-songwriters Jess Greenfield and Gavin Conder, whose top-line vocal melodies bring the songs to life.
Following in the footsteps of contemporary soul greats like Sharon Jones, Black Pumas, and Alabama Shakes, as well as legends like Al Green and Aretha Franklin, their songs are sincere affairs of the heart—crafted with tremendous care, attention to detail, and a huge emotional punch.
Their debut album, Wonderland, is an absolute classic of rich, analogue production combined with powerful, soulful performances and heartfelt songwriting, which we definitely recommend checking out.
Since their last show here in October, they’ve been hard at work in the studio on their upcoming album, out later this year. This gig is one of only a handful of opportunities to hear the new music before it is released.
