BILLY MARROWS BAND

Billy Marrows is one of the finest guitarists and composers on the London jazz scene today. The Billy Marrows Band’s vibrantly melodic, groovy and expressive music explores the meeting point between composition and improvisation, creating a fertile playground for these highly inventive musicians. Drawing on grooves from across the globe, they take inspiration from a wide range of styles, including contemporary jazz, funk and progressive jazz.

The group features some of the most exciting players on the London jazz scene: Billy Marrows on electric guitar and compositions, Chris Williams on alto sax (of Mercury Prize-nominated Led Bib, Sarathy Korwar), Huw V Williams on double bass (Gruff Rhys, Ivo Neame, Chris Batchelor) and Jay Davis on drums (Mark Lockheart, Eddie Parker, Elliot Galvin). Their debut album Dancing on Bentwood Chairs is released in February 2026, and this show is part of their album release tour.

Alongside this quartet, Billy leads the critically acclaimed chamber-jazz project Grande Família (also featuring Chris Williams), who have sold out the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room, a two-night residency at Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho, and appeared at Scarborough Jazz Festival 2025. Their 2024 debut Penelope received ★★★★ and Editor’s Choice in Jazzwise, and was shortlisted for Album of the Year in the 2025 Parliamentary Jazz Awards.

Marrows plays with such lyrical melodicism...you can’t help but be seduced into his charmed world.
