We are delighted to welcome Brigid Mae Power to The Bear Club. London-born but raised in Galway, she sings dreamy pop with a hauntingly beautiful voice, and her music is a unique marriage of the traditional and the very modern.
Brigid’s gorgeous vocals carry the dream-like quality of Hope Sandoval, Elizabeth Fraser, or even Tracey Thorn, while her influences span traditional Irish music, American country and western, bluegrass, jazz, and vintage pop. Her breathtaking songs are filled with personal tales of the lovelorn and the lost.
Politically primed and socially aware, this Irish musician has found power in her extraordinary voice and been able to embroider it into a musical tapestry across five studio albums, including last year’s Songs For You, a stunning collection of cover versions dedicated to her father.
Support is from Elizabeth & Jameson, who have become mainstays of the UK acoustic folk-roots scene. In addition to their own extensive tour dates, the duo have opened for the likes of Turin Brakes, Scott Matthews, and Jools Holland, and have performed at some of the UK’s biggest acoustic and folk clubs and festivals.
“The Irish singer-songwriter flits between past and present; between traditional and modern forms; between the heaven in her voice and the earthbound epiphanies of her words”
“Songs for You is a timeless record filled with brilliant moments that will melt the heart of even the most cynically covers-album-averse listener”
