My Darling Clementine play fine Country & Western influenced by the classic duos of the 60s and 70s like Tammy Wynette and George Jones or Johnny Cash and June Carter. For what began life as a bit of a side project for Michael Weston King & Lou Dalgleish, a labour of love, My Darling Clementine has grown and grown, and to some degree, has even overtaken the solo careers of its two main protagonists.
In a twelve year period they have released six critically acclaimed albums, a DVD collection, and played over 1000 shows right across the world. The numerous accolades and awards they have won has placed the band at the forefront of the ever burgeoning Americana scene.
The 2011 debut “How Do You Plead?” featured some of London’s finest musicians from the 70’s pub rock era and was immediately acclaimed on both sides of the Atlantic. Country Music People called it; “The greatest British country record ever made”.
Such praise led to a US record deal and invitations to appear at the Americana Music Association inNashville and at SXSW in Austin in 2013
Scroll down to 2019 and Lou and Michael entered into collaboration with keyboard genius Steve Nieve (Elvis Costello & The Attractions). The three came together in France to record Country Darkness, a collection of songs written by Elvis Costello, reinterpreted by Lou and Michael for duet to great acclaim over a series of EPs in 2020. Expect to hear them playing one or two numbers from that tonight together with songs from their fine back catalogue …and from their new album.
“King and Dalgleish have earned their place in the roll call of great country duettists.”
“MDC mix country gloom with excellent musicianship and very fine songs.”
“King and Dalgleish have re-invented the country duet. The mingling of these two voices is just heavenly.”
