British pianist and composer Gabriel Latchin has made a name for himself as one of the UK’s finest musicians, praised internationally by critics and world renowned musicians alike. Known for his effortlessly swinging feel and compelling performances, Latchin was recently praised by The Guardian as “the best straight-ahead jazz pianist to appear in the past few years."
Now a major highlight on the UK jazz scene, The Gabriel Latchin Trio take inspiration from Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson and Herbie Hancock. This evening’s concert will pay tribute to the music of George Gershwin, the pre-eminent American composer. The Man I Love, the trio’s fifth record, features new arrangements of all-Gershwin favourites, including Summertime, Someone to Watch Over Me and I Got Rhythm.
With thousands of albums sold and 40+ million streams, Latchin’s international presence is growing fast. Recently awarded four stars in Jazzwise as well as in both The Times and The Guardian, the trio has also been featured in Downbeat (USA) and Jazz Japan.
Line-up: Gabriel Latchin (piano), Jeremy Brown (bass), Josh Morrison (drums).
“For my money London-born Gabriel Latchin is the finest straight-ahead jazz pianist to appear in the past few years.”
“Smartly presented music, the sound superb, the trio on top form. They’re touring from this month onwards, don’t miss them.”
