Resolution 88 return to The Bear Club, following the launch of the band's fourth studio album 'Vortex' and their sold out show at The Bear last year. For this performance, the band will revisit songs from all four of their albums - with the possibility of some brand new material trialled live too.
As one of the UK’s leading exponents of funk jazz, Resolution 88's music is synonymous with the beautiful tones of the Fender Rhodes and fuses the sound of the modern London jazz scene with the inspirational greats of the 70s, such as Herbie Hancock’s Head Hunters and the classic Mizell Brothers productions.
They've brought their high-energy performances to a range of prestigious venues and festivals around the UK and Europe, including live shows supporting Snarky Puppy, Roy Ayers, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, Larry Mizell & the Blackbyrds, Butcher Brown, and the Yellowjackets.
For their latest album, bandleader and composer Tom O’Grady went all-out to recreate the sound world from his favourite Mizell Brothers productions and Herbie Hancock records. Everything you hear on this album, from the Mellotron to the Echoplex, from the Oberheim 4 Voice to the glockenspiel, is the real thing. There could be dancing…!
“Soulful music, played with passion and incredible skill... this harkens back to the best funk-jazz of the sixties and seventies and takes it to a new level”
“There’s absolutely no-one around at all like these guys at the moment!”
“Band on the rise”
