JIM MULLEN & NIGEL PRICE QUARTET

We welcome not one but two of the finest jazz guitarists in Britain to The Bear Club for what should be a very special night.

Nigel Price (otherwise know as the hardest working man in jazz) is a highly skilled guitarist as well as an accomplished composer whose swinging bebop approach combined with flawless control is a delight. He has played on more than 50 albums, spent ten years with acid jazz outfit the Filthy Six, was a member of James Taylor’s jazz/funk band and has appeared at Ronnie Scott’s over 600 times (and quite a few at The Bear Club too…).

As leader he has recorded 9 albums and has received the Parliamentary Jazz Award for Best Jazz Ensemble and the British Jazz Award for ‘Best Small Group’.

Tonight Nigel is joined by one of the UK’s most iconic musicians, guitarist Jim Mullen. A multi-award winner, including a special Honorary Parliamentary Jazz Award in 2017, Jim is widely regarded as one of the finest jazz guitarists in Europe.

We are thrilled to bring these two stalwarts of the British jazz scene together at The Bear Club and they will be joined by the dream team rhythm section of Steve Brown on drums and Jeremy Brown on bass.

Expect plenty of fireworks and a lot of fun.

All those years at jazz’s coalface leave us with a musician at the peak of his craft. At an age where many musicians might start to slow down, Jim just keeps on going; out there night after night, serving the tune and improvising at the highest level.

Straight, swinging, clean-toned guitar... it’s playing of this standard that keeps the jazz tradition burning and is likely to turn more people onto the music
