Kenny Wheeler Jazz Prize winner Jonny Mansfield is critically regarded as one of the UK’s most original jazz voices. Having been nominated for an Ivor Novello Award and a Parliamentary Jazz Award, as well as receiving the Tebbut Exhibition Award, Richard Turner Award and the Royal Academy of Music’s Principals Prize, Mansfield signed to Edition Records to release his debut album Elftet. His second album, The Air in Front of You (Resonant Postcards), received wide acclaim for its blend of introspection and ensemble interplay.
He has worked with a remarkable range of artists including Chris Potter, Gwilym Simcock, Nikki Iles, Byron Wallen, Kit Downes, Orlando Weeks, and Emma Rawicz, while also leading his own acclaimed projects. Beyond vibraphone, Jonny is a versatile multi-instrumentalist, equally at home on percussion, piano, and synths.
Now, Mansfield returns with his new quintet album Light Finds a Way In, released in November 2025.
The line-up tonight comprises some of the finest young musicians on the London scene: Jonny Mansfield (vibes), Will Barry (piano), Will Sach (bass) and Luke McCarthy (drums).
“The sheer originality his music exudes...”
“A musical vision beyond his years.”
“The interplay between the musicians is exemplary, with seamless shifting between composed music and improvisation working extremely well.”
