MILES AT 100: ALISTAIR MARTIN QUINTET FEAT. TOM SMITH

We’re thrilled to welcome the Alistair Martin Quintet, featuring special guest Tom Smith, for an evening celebrating the centenary of the birth of the "Prince of Darkness", Miles Davis.

Bringing together two of the most exciting voices on the contemporary British jazz scene, visionary trumpeter Alistair Martin and award-winning saxophonist Tom Smith explore the chameleonic legacy of Miles Davis. From the iconic cool of the 1950s to the fiery innovations of his later eras, this is a powerhouse tribute to an icon of style and restless reinvention.

After studying jazz at the Royal Academy of Music, Alistair released his debut album Oblivion in 2021. The album was hugely influenced by social and political issues like climate change and conflict, fusing hip hop and electronic music elements with a classic jazz quintet sound.

Tom, also a Royal Academy of Music graduate and two-time BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year finalist, is recognised for his innovative projects, dynamic compositions, and commitment to pushing the boundaries of jazz.

Featuring Alistair Martin (trumpet), Tom Smith (saxes), Niklas Lukassen (bass), Eddie Lee (piano), and Dave Storey (drums).

Martin’s tone is expressive, rich and full of melodic invention, which, given his youthful age, speaks to an astonishing maturity as a musician
