We welcome Tango Jazz Quartet back to The Bear for a wonderful evening celebrating the creative collision of Argentinian tango and jazz.
The band magically captures the harmonies and improvisation of jazz, and blends them with the melodies and rhythms of tango. They have released ten albums and embarked on numerous international tours, performing in the most prestigious jazz clubs and festivals across the world.
They have long championed the work of Astor Piazzolla - the great Argentinian tango composer and bandoneón player who revolutionised the traditional tango into a new style termed “nuevo tango”, incorporating elements from jazz and classical music.
This year the group returns to The Bear Club with a renewed repertoire that explores traditional tango as well as aspects of the avant-garde tango made famous by Piazzolla.
Whether it’s the vibrant and playful "milongas", the romantic "tango-waltzes" or the electrifying music of Piazzzola himself it’s always a great night when the TJQ are in town.
