Theo Travis’s many musical interests come together in this distinctive project. Described on BBC Radio 2 as "One of the very best young tenor saxophonists of this or any other jazz generation in Britain”, he has appeared on over 250 albums and played at Ronnie Scott’s over 75 times.
Travis has been a member of the classic band Soft Machine for 20 years, and also worked with Robert Fripp, David Gilmour, David Sylvian, Steven Wilson, John Etheridge, Gong, Mick Karn and Keith Tippett. He has performed all over the world including the USA, Canada, Japan, Europe, Scandinavia and the UK. Theo has released 2 albums with Double Talk, both critically and popularly acclaimed.
The band features Theo’s emotional tenor and soprano saxes and flute, the soulful hammond organ playing of Pete Whittaker, the explosive guitar solos of Mike Outram and tonight with the powerhouse drumming of Dylan Howe. The band is touring in 2026 to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Travis’s classic ‘Secret Island‘ album.
This will be an evening of passionate music and haunting instrumental songs from one of Britain’s top saxophonists and flautists and his band.
Theo Travis – Tenor/soprano saxes and flute
Mike Outram – Guitar
Pete Whittaker – Hammond Organ
Dylan Howe – Drums
“Travis’s tenor is a warm, mellifluous instrument and together with the luscious, bluesy Hammond organ they create something rather unexpected...a prog-rock/jazz/blues hybrid album of genuine power and excitement.”
“Travis’s ambient and jazz leanings unite on this wonderfully trippy record featuring the leader’s saxes and flutes, Mike Outram on space –rock guitar and Pete Whittaker’s haunting Hammond…this is a rare, fine English psychedelic jazz.”
